September 16th, 2013

such a great week!! ahh!!!! so great :) we started teaching ---, a 18 year old girl. she is just soaking it all in its crazy. her mom was talking to us and said that she met with the missionaries a while ago and read the whole book of mormon and that she loves it more than the bible. so i dont really know why the mom isnt baptized yet! haha they are so prepared its amazizng. we had exchanges this week. and guess who came and spent the day here?! SISTER LOCKHART
her new comp is the sister training leader for our zone, and usually she goes on exchanges with all of the sisters who are training, but since we went together last transfer she made a special little exception for us and went with sister walker and sister lockhart and I got to spend the day together. that was way fun :) we taught early morning seminary so that was an experience! got up at 4:30 that morning. and we actually didnt go to sleep til 1:30 the night before cause we were catching up with each other and just kept talking all night haha. sooooo we were a little tired but whats new! I also almost got killed by a pitbull. not even kidding. charged at me and almost bit my face off. have i mentioned i HATE DOGS now? easily the scariest moment of my entire life. I was literally praying out loud. but dont worry Im alive!
we started teaching ---, ---'s brother this week. he was the biggest punk I have ever met in my life, but he randomly came up to us and said that he wants a change in his life and asked if we would come and teach him! so that was kinda crazy but way cool! we will see how it goes! we actually taught like wayyyy more lessons this week than we ever have. so that is a good thing! things just keep getting better and better! we spent the day with sister sevy and her daughter in law kristy. probably my favorite people ever. kristy dyed my hair blonde so that is something new. hahaha. things here are just so great! we made a new ward mission plan last night at ward correllation and I am SOOOO EXCITED about it. we have so many new great plans and ideas and I seriously just cant wait to get them going! being a missionary is the greatest thing in the entire world. I know I say that all the time. but its so true :)
i love you all!!!!!!!! have a great week!!!

Lots happening here in H town!

-- got BAPTIZED!!!! best day ever. like half the stake was there it was crazy. we had to have the talks and all that in the chapel and then everyone had to crowd in the RS room to watch the baptism cause not everyone could fit in there! 10 years of being a dry mormon and the day finally came! even just in the 3 months of us teaching him it is crazy to see how far he has come. such an amazing little family :)
we had to hand -- over to the assistants to teach. things were getting a little awkward and lets just say its best if sisters get out of the equation and that elders teach him. hahaha.
We have been working with ---, who is an excommunicated member. when I first got here she said to not even mention the dicussions to her cause she wasnt gonna take them. so it was more of a visiting teaching type thing with her. buuuut. the other day she looked at us and said that she wants to start the lessons!!!!! she feels like she is ready to get going and start doing the things she needs to do to be baptized again. love that girl
we are starting to teach ---, who is a 10 year old girl. her parents were converted years ago and went inactive. we have been working with them and now we are getting their kids involved and hopefully get them baptized here pretty soon!
we found 2 new investigators this week. surprisingly both from tracting. and they both seem pretty promising. one of them is an 18 year old girl named --- who is a single mom. she lives with her parents who acutally have met with missionaries before. they all seem really interested so we will see what happens there!
the work is really moving forward here! the lord just keeps blessing us!
i love you all! hugs to utah! :)

September 2nd, 2013

well hey there! I have zero time this week. its been way crazy. IM TRAINING. yeah what? crazy. I feel like I just got here. sister lockhart got transferred to magnolia. she is actually still in the same zone so we are happy about that! sister walker my new comp is from billings montana. just turned 19 like 2 weeks ago haha. super cute. I love the new missionary energy she brings.
--- baptism is this week! SO EXCITING!!!! we also set a date with --- this week! september 28th! YAY!!! haha theres gonna be a triple baptism that day! we are just seeing so so sooo many miracles its crazy! mission life is THE BEST!
I have learned a lot about myself this week. I have learned that a mission hasnt changed my personality, but it definitely has changed my character. Christ never changed the way that he was, although he grew in every aspect. His style was always the same, loving, kind, patient, and much much more. He never got angry or insulted anyone. And I have noticed that as you strive to be like Him and look to Him as a role model, you don't have to change who you are. You are just improving yourself. And that is very important :)
love and miss you all so much! keep the faith!

August 26th, 2013

welllll things here are just super great! -- is... well -- is --. same attitude but you gotta love him haha. he is great. cant wait for the big day! & -- is soooo great! so his parents are like way devout lutheran. and he grew up lutheran of course. so he went to san antonio last week to tell them he was getting baptized and his dad was supportive which was way surprising to him, and they said they were gonna come to the baptism. so a couple days ago -- called them to tell them when exactly it was and they said that they arent coming anymore cause they dont feel comfortable with it and they are disappointed in him. so he was obviously way down about that and he asked if we would come over so we did and we tried to cheer him up about it and he just kept saying how happy and excited he still is and he and -- kept talking about their plans for next year when they are gonna go and get sealed and it was just so amazing to see their happiness even though things are rough with his family. even at church yesterday he was just like I cant stop smiling im so happy! his testimony has grown soooo so so much. he always has to remind me that since I am converting him to the church that he is converting me to A&M hahaha.
I dont know why its such a struggle for me to think about what to even write you all. I can barely remember what happened this morning let alone the whole past week haha. so we have 3 baptisms coming up this month! crossing my fingers I get to stay! a lot of investigators who we are still in the process. but they will get there I know they will! The ward is crazy excited about all of the work going on. They havent seen so much success in years and so they are all jumping in and helping with the discussions and are being so welcoming to all of the people and they are just all so pumped about it all. The bishop called like 6 new ward missionaries yesterday which is huge! the work is just goin and its so fun.
I LOVE YOU ALL!!

August 19th, 2013

sorry the emails are getting shorter mom. hahaha. its funny cause wherever we go I have this sense of urgency like we have to hurry and move on to the next place. its go go go all week and we have all these appointments we have to stick to a pretty tight schedule, so on pdays when we go out and do stuff or go out with a member and dont have some place to be, it stresses me out. so I probably just have gotten that way with writing you all and I feel like I have to go so fast and not take my sweet time haha.
it was temple week this week! a little sad cause we didnt get to see the new video. we have the ASL elders in our zone, and they dont have the translations done for it yet so we still saw the old one. but it was still great of course! always a good uplifting day!
I scored some huge points with -- this week. We went over there to teach him and he had the texans game on and we had a good 20 minute conversation about football hahaha. so I have to say thanks to mom for raising me to be a football fan. its definitely helping me out ;) just kidding. it was temping though so we had to take the lesson outside cause he didnt want to turn it off and I didnt need that distraction hahaha.
-- had his baptism interview yesterday and he is ready to go! the only thing is that the bishop might be out of the country that weekend of the baptism, and -- really wants him there. which means the date might get moved. we are praying he wont have to leave though.
we taught -- like 3 times this week. he is making huge progress. I know he was going to look at apartments today so that he can move out and be out of his house where his 'baby mama' he refers to as, is. He still has got the attitude goin on but thats something that will never change hahaha
-- came to church yesterday all dressed up in his white shirt and tie! he has been coming just in casual clothes so he really is started to take all this seriously it seems like haha. we are hoping to set a date with him this week.
Sister Lockhart and I have officially gotten the "feeling". All the missionaries get it when they know they are about to leave an area. We don't know which one it is, but one of us is gone. I am learning to just be okay with it and keep my happy face on and be excited for whatever is in store next!
Still loving every single second and cant believe how fast time is flying! I hope you all are doing great as always! love you!!

August 12th, 2013

hows everything in UT?! I cant believe that summer is almost over and everyone is starting school again! time flies by its so crazy.
another great week in good old spring texas! we had 4 investigators at church yesterday which we were really excited about! also the -- came to church!!!! they havent gone in years, and we have been visiting them each week and committed them to come! it was so exciting!
we had exchanges this week which was super fun. But its always so great when sister lockhart and I are reunited again hahaha. in each of our comp prayers we pray that we will stay together until christmas. we will see if thats what the lord has in store hahaha.
-- is still doing so great! we finished all of the discussions and he is ready to go! he only struggled with one thing, which is his sweet tea hahaha. but we got past that and all is great! september 7th is the big day!
--. oh man. He has got some serious sass goin on hahaha. he calls me the blonde haired blue eyed girl. which is awkward cause I dont even have blonde hair. and whenever he talks super fast and I cant understand him he goes, oh I forgot I have to talk 'white' to you hahahaha. He thinks we are too proper. he is from the hood if that explains anything. We taught him a lesson on repentance yesterday. he is still on for his baptism next month. we just have a lot more to discuss with him before then! we got a big samoan member from the ward to help us with all of the lessons. -- likes to look down upon the 2 little white girls so we got some help and now things are real great!
We had some other great lessons with --, --, -- and -- as well. still all progressing pretty gooood. The ward has been getting so involved and so excited about missionary work. Things have really picked up in this ward and everyone is just so excited about it!
its temple week this week so that is exciting!!! we are excited to see this new video that everyone keeps telling us about! It is such a blessing that we have the houston temple just 15 minutes down the street from us. I love it so much :)
It sounds like everyone is doing good :) Dont forget the Lord in anything that you do! that is when life gets just about perfect! I LOVE YOU ALL :)

August 5th, 2013

okay so seriously like, the best week EVER. the Lord is giving us so many miracles!!
-- set a date! He is getting baptized on september 7th :) We taught him the 4th lesson in the temple waiting room, which was SO neat. He was so prepared by the lord. Like -- is your ideal investigator hahaha. His wife is unbelieveably happy. she has been waiting for this for years now. It is so amazing to see this little family grow in the gospel.
But thats not all. We didn't just have one baptismal date this week... but 2!!!!
-- set a date for the 28th of spetember. Im not sure if I have ever talked about him before. He is a big scary black guy. And when I say scary, I mean scary. hahahaha the first time we met with him I was scared for my life. He has met with the missionaries for years now. His mom is a member. He is in his early 20's. He has had such a desire to be baptized, but he has a chastity issue. And he has never been willing to do anything about it. He has a few kids. And his girlfriend is living in the house. We explained to him what needs to happen if he wants to be baptized, and he told us that she is moving out before next month, and he is going to do whatever it takes to be baptized. So the date is set!
-- told us that he has baptism as a goal. There isn't a date, but he is reading the BOM and coming to church. He seriously just soaks everything in and loves it. He just feels a lot of pressure to be perfect after reading the for strength of youth pamphlet. But he is comin right along!
We doubled our investigators this week. Which is so crazy. We have about 6 progressing, and a few who are kinda stuck. But we will get them there!
We had zone conference this week! Super good as always. Sister Williams was there!!! we about died when we saw each other hahaha. we are set on being comps for our last transfer out here. so everyone pray hard! Also, sister lockhart and I need lots of prayers so that we dont get transferred!! This area has improved so so much and we have to stay. we have to haha. The lord is just pouring his blessings on all these people! being a missionary is the greatest thing in the entire world. its amazing the love that you get for the people in your area. its something you cant even explain really. If I could stay here my whole mission I would. But I know thats not how it works haha.
I love you all!! Hope everyone is doing great!
love,
sister huber
